This book is a must read for all Freemasons! Manly P. Hall has pieced together the essence and history of the craft in a very intelligent and informative matter, which gives the initiated much insight into the deeper symbolism and origins behind the rituals performed in the Blue Lodge Great read for the unlearned in the teachings of Freemasonry. I have encountered some Masonic brothers who had no knowledge of some of the info within this treasure chest. The general history behind the fraternities and how it was all culminated by the founders of the craft of Freemasonry and similar societies is brilliantly defined in a very logical and well structured format.I often wondered about free masonry before I became one. I knew some masons, some were very honest and honorable men and some were not, and I wondered why? Although I am now a Mason, after reading this I get it. The honorable ones "got it" the others did not, just because they had a ring did not make them a true Mason. We need some of these men in the white house today like we had originally. It gives one a greater respect for our founding fathers.
Truly, "The Lost Keys of Freemasonary" is an incredible book by a gifted author. However, I can this 2 stars because of the absolutely poor quality of the printing. On the other hand, for the price I should have expected that but it still doesn't do this story or the author any justice at all. For those looking for this book crafted in the proper way I'd recommend Macoy Publishing totally!
This goes "hand in glove" with The Meaning Of Masonry, W.L. Wilmshurst 1928. An excellent read which may require reading it 2 or more times in order to grasp all that is contained in this book.
I wanted to find out more about the Free Mason prior to joining. This may not be the best book for beginners. I needed a dictionary when I was reading. I'm sure once I get in and understand more the book will make more since. The author is very smart and insightful but the concepts are hard to grasp. If you are interested in masonry I would suggest ask a Mason. This book is not very helpful if you are using it to consider to join or not.
This book is very helpful in the education process for masons. It is a little difficult to read as it was written in the early 1900's for masons at the time. The content is still interesting but takes a little time to read it. I will be passing my copy on to members of my lodge to keep as a reference book.
Male, or like me female, students who seek wisdom will find Mr Hall's presentations deep yet digestible. I Am grateful!
Bought this as a gift for someone who enjoys reading various Freemason books. I'm only rating this as 1 star due to the quality of the book design but not the subject or author itself.As a book lover and collector, this version of The Lost Keys of Freemasonry book has a very amateur published appearance with blank white areas on the cover with the design itself being off-centered (the cover may be designed for a certain size and end up being printed on a bigger size, which cause the blank white areas to appear) and is not designed professionally. Due to the unprofessional published quality of the book, I had to return this copy instead of giving it as a gift.
Manly P. Hall is one of the great philosophical lights of Freemasonry, and this book, while often mis-quoted, one of his most profound works.
