I was expecting less photos and more text on the history of each major linen manufacturer. THe photos were very good though. Having a price range is good however it would be more useful to give a change in price over the years. These cloths have been collected over a long time and the author should have an idea of the appreciation of the items.A rarity rating would have been useful too.I enjoyed flicking through it but would I have bought it if I hadn't done that first. Maybe not.

What a wonderful surprise I had as I reviewed the vintage tablecloths and were so happy to see so many of my Dad's designs and also see that he was mentioned in many of them. This is the first book I have that recognizes John Madsen as the designer and holder of some patents (which I never knew about). My sister, brother and I have enjoyed the thrill of looking and purchasing his tablecloths and have a nice selection - many of which we remember seeing him work on. This book has helped us so much in recognizing his work and learning more about Wilendure who he worked for. We thank Yvonne Barineau for providing this information in our search. I was so thrilled when this book arrived to see not only BEAUTIFUL color photos, but accurate facts. The manufacturer section is the most concrete information yet published...it was a huge help in dating my own collection. And did I mention the GORGEOUS pictures???? This book is tops!

I am near the end of a college class on DW, and I bought this book to supplement our textbook. This Missing Manual is very, very well done. Much more informative than the textbook, IMHO.This MM certainly contains the basics for beginners, but also callout Notes and Tips that help an intermediate user such as myself. Just a couple of chapters into the book, I have already learned enough to become more proficient and efficient with Dreamweaver as I work on my term project and future "real life" web sites.As with all Missing Manuals, you don't get a bare-bones, cook-book approach. Some people might prefer "just the steps, Ma'am," but I like the running commentary and explanations in the MM, as well as the little tips and bug alerts.If you like to understand the whys and wherefores of the software you are working with, and to truly understand what the program can and cannot do, then this is probably the book for you.

Last semester I took a Javascript/jQuery course in college and we used this series. I absolutely loved it! Finaly a book that didn't bore me to death with pointless information. I wish every technology course would use the books in this series. Now that I am learning Dreamweaver I decided to get this book on my own and have found it just as useful. The book is fairly thick around 1000 pages, but the size of the book is a little smaller than most large texts which I really like. Since I do already know html I decided to do the tutorials in order to learn quickly and then go back and read the actual content of the chapter. I also really loved this 2nd edition book because it has been updated to the Dreamweaver CC 2014 version, where most of the other books there's some sections where menus have moved or been changed, which is very frustrating for someone trying to learn. Would definitely recommend this book.

I had to get this book for my ITE 170 Multimedia Software course. I got the Kindle Fire Edition which is great because I don't have to carry around big books across campus. I accidentally purchased the 2nd Edition, but my professor told me that it isn't that much different than the first edition of The Missing Manual. Only advice is to pay close attention to what edition you are purchasing. Also, for the Kindle Fire Edition, the only thing I didn't like was that I was't able to view what page I was on. I don't know if that is the way it comes or if it's a Kindle Fire issue. Otherwise the content is great. I was able to follow along with the assigned tutorials just fine.

This is a good book. DW makes me think of MS Excel - hugely in need of modernization, particularly in the area of responsive - but it you are going to use DW, this will help.

Seems like there is so much information but when I tried to find what I was looking for, it was not there. It is a fine book to start with web design and Dreamweaver. Adobe offers many back up tutorials online to supplement.

Not nearly as good as his previous books. No index means more time paging through the table of contents to find stuff. Very frustrating. Probably won't buy any more of their books in the future.

Very useful for my class

I had dabbled around with Dreamweaver for a few years and could never quite gain much proficiency with it. Even the Adobe online tutorials didn't offer much help. I got this book and followed the tutorials and within one week I was able to build a professional looking website. The only drawback with the book is the use of third party software for menu creation. Other that I would highly recommend this book. You do have to be intuitive and there is some experimentation involved but all the basics are there.
