My children and husband absolutely love these National Geographic books! I think we have them all. We rotate them according to the season. They are nonfiction but use great pictured of real kids, and they’re short enough to be an easy bedtime story.

Okay read, great pictures. Students were interested to learn of the different colors pumpkin come in

Great pictures and straight to the point text. Its exactly what I was looking for to use with my pumpkin until study.

All of these National Geographic books are great and you cannot go wrong for the price. They have beautiful photography and make learning come alive for kids. Both my five year old and seven year old love these books and we bring them out as the seasons change to help illustrate what is going on in our own back yard. Your child will not even know he/she is learning!

This was really great for a kindergarten pumpkin unit. It’s wxactly what it says it will be. New October favorite for me.

Great for our homeschool fall lessons. We read this before visiting a pumpkin patch. We opened a pumpkin and grew one of the seeds. This book was detailed and simple to follow.

I thought that this book was really informative and held my 6 year old daughter's interest. The pictures are beautiful and when we went pumpkin picking she quoted facts from the book. I also bought the book "Apples" which is done the same way as this. I love both books and think they are a must have for fall!!

Great book. Very informative. I used this for a lesson in my first grade class. The children loved it and it let itself to multiple teaching opportunities.

This is my favorite series so far ! Liv has to embrace her magic as she trains to be a magician Warrier. Her relationship with her magical cat Plato and her giant friend Rory are a lot to read and root for as Rory begins training Liv to embrace her magic and become a magician Warrior. This new series is delightful with its quick humor, fast action, intrigue and adventure. It rivals the Harry Potter series! I loved it and can't wait for the next book in this awesome series!

I have enough drama in my real life so when I pick up a book to read, I want to be entertained and happy. Liv Beaufont is definitely entertaining and snarky. I'd love to go partying with her. She doesn't want anything to do with magic, but in order to keep her family's legacy alive, she must accept her magic and take her place working for the Council, enforcing laws that she doesn't believe in. With a lot of humor, and a magical Lynx, Liv shows that she can handle whatever life throws at her.

There are so many things to love about this book: a smart mouthed noncomforming witch, a giant with a heart of gold and a sarcastic cat. Lynx. Whatever! Our intrepid crew is out to solve mysteries and save magic from those who would pretend to be doing the same. I look forward to book 2!

Liv does her job well. Instead of reacting as others that have been indoctrinated about the relationship between magic, magicians, and the Council, she tries to dig around to find the truth and find justice, not blindly obey law. I hope to see a lot more of our rebellious one!

I was into this story from when I read the first two teaser chapters, and finished the poor thing in one sitting. I really wish, that book two was already out, or at least, coming out slightly sooner...

This is a great new series of a rebellious magician and for her quest for the truth of her parents and older brother and sisters death while protecting the remaining family she has left.

I can identify with our snarky heroine’s pushback against the Council with their blind adherence to convention and her interest in compassionate justice. It will be interesting to see where this goes. The writing is breezy, the characters interesting and the apparent villains appropriately vile.

She lies incessantly to make magic and the implausible seem normal. She has a righteous moral code that constantly gets her in deadly trouble. An enjoyable yarn!

I am a Harvard graduate, 99% scorer and professional GRE tutor with 16 years of experience, and it’s safe to say that I am not a fan of this book.The fact that this is currently the highest selling GRE test-prep book on Amazon tells me that GRE test-takers don't always know what they are doing, and perhaps that they don't realize that the 6 tests (5 online CATs and 1 in the book) are not real GREs. It also tells me that sometimes, marketing and hype can trump quality and realism. To me, Kaplan has always represented the lowest common denominator of test-prep books, and this one is no exception.First, let’s contrast Kaplan’s book description with reality.**Kaplan: “GRE Premier 2017 is a comprehensive prep system that includes…”**Reality: This book is quite full of information, yes, but it is clearly not comprehensive because it doesn’t include any official GRE test questions. That’s right: there are exactly ZERO real GRE questions in this book, despite the fact that there are nearly 1,000 real questions available to test-takers, straight from the test maker, through the free GRE Powerprep Software (google "GRE Revised General Test: POWERPREP II Software" to find and download this software) and the Official GRE Super Power Pack: Official GRE Super Power Pack So how could this book ever be honestly marketed as “comprehensive?” I understand that there are copyright issues involved, but the least Kaplan could do is to mention that these official GRE materials exist—otherwise it is doing its students and clients a disservice by making them feel fully prepared for the GRE, when they in fact are not. If acing the GRE were as easy as Kaplan makes it seem, then everyone would do it. The fact is that to maximize your score you need to put in hard work and practice with real GRE questions.Why are the GRE Official Guides (Super Power Pack) the very best place to start your GRE preparation, other than the free PowerPrep software? Because the questions in these books are super-realistic. They are just like the questions on the real GRE, because these books are written by the test-maker and use actual GRE questions. Don't waste your time and money practicing on questions made by any other companies--these are merely inferior imitations of the real thing. If you must use other materials for test strategy and learning, then that's fine, and in most cases necessary, but try your best to stick to official questions whenever possible.      **Kaplan: “Kaplan guarantees that if you study with this book and online resources, you will score higher on the GRE—or you'll receive a full refund.”**Reality: So, if for some reason you already took the GRE, and you buy this book and try to use it, and your score doesn’t go up a single point (!), and you decide to go through the process of formally sending this book back and requesting your $22 refund, then we will request documentation and, after an inevitable bureaucratic delay, eventually give you your $22 back. Yes, you might get your money back, but you will still be stuck with a low GRE score and nothing to show for it.Am I surprised by any of this? No. I've been in the test-prep industry for a long time, and since then, this purgatory between mediocrity and incompetence is what I have come to expect from Kaplan. That, and an army of anonymous online droids who predictably show up on Amazon, immediately after any Kaplan book is published, brandishing predictably brief, vague and grammatically incorrect 5-star reviews. I would strongly suggest that students and parents read the many 5-star reviews of this book thoroughly to see which ones you feel are from actual GRE test takers or parents, and not paid, anonymous reviewers.TWO MAIN REASONS WHY I DON’T RECOMMEND THIS BOOK:1) Kaplan is not horrible; it's just OK. That being said, the Manhattan Manhattan Prep GRE Set of 8 Strategy Guides (Manhattan Prep GRE Strategy Guides) , Barron's Barron's GRE, 21st Edition and Princeton Review GRE guides Cracking the GRE Premium Edition with 6 Practice Tests, 2017 (Graduate School Test Preparation) are all better than Kaplan's. Kaplan is the best at marketing, perhaps, but not the best GRE strategy and learning book. I would suggest that you read the many (upcoming, trust me) 5-star reviews of this book thoroughly to see which ones you feel are from actual GRE test takers, and not paid, anonymous online reviewers.2) As I wrote earlier, the Official Guides to the GRE are currently ranked lower on the GRE best-sellers list than this book by Kaplan. How is it possible that you would buy this book before you buy the Official Guides to the test you are taking? You should always try to practice with real GRE questions whenever possible, because the practice questions in this book (and online) are noticeably different from real GRE questions.Amazon is a very democratic place, and anyone is given a voice, including unknown individuals with questionable agendas, so do your research and see what GRE experts such as myself and (my “GRE Vocab Capacity” co-author) Vince Kotchian have to say about these types of "all in one" GRE preparation guides.A QUICK NOTE ABOUT THE POWERPREP CATs: TWO OFFICIAL CATS ARE NOT ENOUGH, SO SUPPLEMENT WITH MANHATTAN, BARRON’S OR PRINCETON REVIEW.As I have already mentioned, the free GRE Powerprep Software contains two official GRE CATs (computer adaptive tests). When you take the test, you will only see 80 questions, but there are 160 possible questions on each test, depending on your performance on the first section. For more information on this, google "The GRE PowerPrep II Scoring Algorithm, Demystified."Since there are only two official CATs from ETS, You’re going to want to find another source of CATs, since you should take around 4-8 tests before you are fully prepared. My preferred company for this purpose is Manhattan GRE.You can either buy the entire series of books, which is helpful but pricey, or you can simply buy the books individually GRE Algebra Strategy Guide (Manhattan Prep GRE Strategy Guides), based upon your needs.  Either way, you will gain access (through a scratch code on the back of each book) to Manhattan’s 6 online GRE CATs, which are a bit harder than the real thing, and slightly different from the real GRE, but worthy imitations nonetheless.For my additional GRE prep recommendations, google "GRE Action Plan - McElroy Tutoring." This is an ok test prep, but I felt that it didn't provide the most clear methods of presenting material. I graduated from college 10 years ago, and haven't seen a lot of this material since I was 14. There were good tips and things to think about, but I found those suggestions and more in other sources. If I had to make a comparison, I'd say this book was a lot like the kid who knew the information really well and threw it at you like you already knew it all and you're just wasting time. For instance, instead of a chart with each different method of resolving exponents, it just had a few examples (and happened to forget negative exponents all together... yes, I figured it out, but why not just have a chart with variables that is clean-cut and straight forward).I found a free copt of an ETS guide for the quantitative section on Google with solution strategies by searching GRE quantitative practice. It's a PDF with some 350 pages. Also, the study prep book by Magoosh (which I just bought) is cheaper and much more thorough, despite being a smaller book. Study wisely and find a better resource.

You might be able to use this for review, if you already know your math. But, I found it impossible to learn from this book. Specifically, I had not done this type of math in a long time and I found it impossible to get what I needed from this publication. I had much more success with another book called "a systematic approach" which covers math concepts only and not verbal questions.

Absolute disaster of a GRE preparatory book. The online materials are worthless and support for tech issues is non-existent. The online tests cannot be reset, even if a connection drop forces a test to crash and the customer support contacts and links never work. Some of the links given in the Kaplan websites lead to "Page Not Found"!!!Note to Amazon: Please stop selling this book/material.

Excellent base for preparation.In my opinion the problems in this book are 85-90% as difficult as the actual test, but if you get really good at these problems you will do well on the GRE test.The book is a must because it goes over and breaks down all the math sections frame by frame. It also goes deep in vocabulary with a dictionary and word grouping section in the back. The only hindrance is I feel like there aren't enough reading comprehension type questions in this book.The ways the questions are asked also feel slightly different than the actual exam itself. The reading for me felt easier, but the questions themselves felt more inquisitive and quizzical with regards to the reading.My recommendation is to start at this book, then for the middle use the 5lb book of GRE practice problems (Manhattan), then for the final week of preparation use the Official guide to GRE test because it feels the most accurate to the test. It's also I believe made by the actual test makers.If you don't have the time to do the extra problems then go from this book straight to the Official guide to the GRE test.

Did well on my GRE despite not having math in YEARS! I supplemented the writing section with videos from YouTube that were more helpful than the book's writing sections.

Ehh. I liked how there were so many practice tests, but I was not a huge fan of having long "chapters" and then questions at the end. Having them scattered throughout would probably be more efficient. I did better on the actual GRE than the the practice tests in the Math section, about the same in the Verbal section, and did worse than predicted on the Writing section. The book didn't focus on writing much and did not really touch on vocabulary much either, so I would recommend also getting another book or flashcards. It is nice how they have so many practice tests though, which in itself makes it probably worth the money.
