About the Author

Shannon Martinez has cooked since she can remember and, due to the influence of her Spanish paternal family and her innovative outside-the-square talents, she's contributed to kitchens across Melbourne for around 20 years. Shannon eats meat, but has perfected her vegetarian and (latterly) vegan repertoire, saying this is what makes her food so good; she tries to replicate the tastes and textures of meat, rather than putting out bland, predictable, vegan food. Smith & Daughters on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy began in 2014. Food lovers went nuts. Almost immediately, the restaurant had grown to 40 staff and were doing 400 covers a night. In July 2015, they opened Smith & Deli, an all-vegan convenience store and deli, in nearby Moor Street. The idea here is a carefully curated selection of all vegan groceries, and freshly made pastries, salads and take-home meals. There's also a long list of made-to-order sandwiches, 'cheese' and 'meat' by the kilo – and, often, queues out the door.Mo Wyse is a Seattle and New York expat. She studied journalism and has a background in production, but dedicated her passion for creative, plant-based food to creating Smith & Daughters and Smith & Deli, where she is the logistical, front-of-house and marketing brains behind this gun team.

When we see their daily posting on Facebook and Instagram, we now have the recipe to make it at home. The recipes are easy to follow and can be made Vegan or not. I especially appreciate the page devoted to Shannon Martinez, the not Vegan chef who is changing the food world to add more Vegan eaters by making it an easy proposition: make food that even a not Vegan loves because it tastes yummy. The smiles on the "Deli Dogs" may alone make this second book a must for your coffee table or kitchen.

Loved their first book and at first glance I can already tell this will not disappoint. If they made 10 more, I would probably get them all - every recipe is a winner and sure to please even the most "non-vegan" person at your table.

This book is phenomenal, and I’m not even a vegan. Can’t wait to start cooking!

Love it! This book is top notch. I bought it for my boyfriend for Christmas and it’s awesome!! The recipes are super well put together! I really want to get the other one now!

I thoroughly enjoy the recipes in this cookbook. Many of the recipes are family favorites with healthy and enhanced ingredients!

This book was written from the heart. The ladies put there ALL into this, even after reading the intro (whew!) I was looking for not only more, but MUCH more of there explanation on how to recreate these delicious meals. The crew, (and there puppy friends) not only make reading this wonderful cook book, they make me excited to try all of there creations.You will never find a more spirit filled cookbook , vegan or non-vegan, than this, my hat's are off to the ladies (Shannon and Mo), and my complements to the chef!From the bottom of my heart to yours girls, Milton
