I bought this book cause Iove how competitive Harbaugh is and how his teams work harder than NFL teams. Angelique does good job in interviews with Michigan after games and press conferences. I remember she was only one who had guts to ask Harbaugh what Blake Oneil told him after the game when the punter blew It in 2015 vs MSU.Reading this book was just average- no real detail about the big games and how Harbaugh prepared or coached his guys or insights within the games. There was only a couple pages on last years classic OSU game. The rivalry is so essential to anything bout Michigan football. She doesnt go into how tough harbaugh practices are or how demanding he is or how he grinds people down like his days in SF. There were no inside stories on recruiting or on the physicalness of hitting in practices or the Michigan Mile. She could have gotten quotes from 49er players in how tough Harbaugh is.There was an interesting story of how harbaugh almost killed his older brother while on a vacation- never had heard that before - wild story. Good info on how Bo shaped him and his neverending approval seeking of the Great coach.Angelique good beat writer and not afraid of harbaugh in post gsme interviews which is good but this book not that much more insight than you read in online articles or learn from watching post game press conferences on youtube.Good effort but not an ascending book.We love Harbaugh cause he's super competitive, he treats media as a competition, he works his players harder than anyone, he works harder than any coach in America, he never criticizes his own guys in public (ie Ed Orgeron), he gets rid of under performing coaches and players quick (Baxter, Fisch), he calls out other teams (purdue, tennesse,USC, Georgia) and he wins.His biggest mountain is recruiting elite Offensive Lineman and a superstar RB and then the biggest mountain in Urban. Until he wins the big game he will not be Considered great at Michigan just Good.
Angelique Chengelis did a great job in telling the story of Jim Harbaugh's second season with the Michigan Wolverines. You see his intensity and his passion. And the 2016 season can be summed up this way: J.T. was short.
A great review of Coach Harbaugh's srcond season at Michigan. I wished it had dealt more indepth with his hiring process.
I like the book very much. I am a big Jim Harbaugh fan.
This book is well constructed and the pages are of substantial weight. The ink is black and contrasts consistently through out the book. The content is about Jim Harbaugh. I did not read this book, I bought it as a gift.
A must read by a great writer!
I was sent this book by a friend and I love it. Angelique has been a tireless reporter on the Michigan football beat since the 90s. She’s seen a little bit of everything and she captures well the spirit of Harbaugh and his place in the Michigan firmament. She doesn’t manufacture drama behind the scenes to dress up the story. The truth is enough with Harbaugh and Angelique gives you true stories. No spoilers here. Just read.
